| DEPARTMENT WISE LABORATORY FACILITIES |
1. ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
(i) Analog Laboratory:
Analog Circuit is the fundamental subject and we are giving the conceptual knowledge of the subject by practical aspect. In EC department one of the state of the art laboratories is Analog Laboratory. It is equipped with the latest designed C.R.O. (analog and digital), function generator, power supplies (single and multiple), digital multimeters (portable and handy), trainer kits to study the basic characteristics of the various semiconductor devices, trainer kits of different amplifier circuits, variable a.c. power supplies, resistance box, capacitance box, inductance box, A.F. output power meter, PC, component development system, digital LCR meter and power supplies and well established component bank.
(ii) Digital Electronics Laboratory :
Nowadays Analog Electronics is being transformed into the digital domain, so its fundamentals are necessary for the EC students. In this regard, Digital Electronics laboratory is furnished with Digital Trainer Boards, Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO), CRO, function generator, power supply. This laboratory also contains an analog and digital IC tester which can test a number of ICs in component bank under the laboratory. In this laboratory, experiments of subjects like Digital Electronics, Digital Computer Organization are performed.
(iii) Communication Laboratory :
We have established well equipped Communication Lab for undergraduate students of Electronics and Communication branch. We are having both analog and digital communication kits. Laboratory is equipped with Analog CRO, Digital storage oscilloscope, power supplies, function generators, counter, Colour pattern generator. We are also having kits for television engineering and optical communication system. In this laboratory, subjects like Television Engineering, Analog Communication System, Communication Engineering, Communication System, Teletransmitting System and Optical Communication System are taught to the students.
(iv) High Frequency Laboratory :
This laboratory is stocked with all the modern instruments to conduct various practicals based on Antenna. Theory specially plotting the radiation pattern of antenna at 600 MHz to 800 MHz Transmission line analyzer for measuring VSWR, Maxima-Minima, Reflection Co-efficient & return loss. We also have microwave bench (X-band, 8Ghz to 12 GHz) to perform various Microwave component characteristics.
(v) Microprocessor Laboratory :
Development in electronics increases day by day in embedded system. Microprocessor lab provides both types of facility for student to working on hardware and software. For software programming many computers are available in this lab. Students can work on assembly language programming for 8086 microprocessor and 8051 micro controller. Microprocessors are also furnished with many kits like 8086 microprocessor, 8255 interfacing port, 8051 micro controller, ADC and DAC. For the Final year students working on project related to microcontroller 89c51, this lab is much more important that provides the assembly language software, universal programmer, 89c51 IC and related accessories required in project.
(vi) E - CAD Laboratory:
This laboratory of Electronics and Communication department is very spacious, which deals with the latest software and hardware devices. E-CAD laboratory basically deals with subjects like Application Packages, VLSI and Design Technology, Digital Signal Processing etc. Implementation phase is done on the various electronics software and universal hardware kits like Xilinx ISE series, MATLAB, Multisim and Ulti board ,Universal industrial FPGA Kit , DSP processor kit etc. In addition, internet and intranet facilities are an integral part of this laboratory.
(vii) Power Electronics Laboratory:
This laboratory is used by the students of 6 th Sem subject "Power Electronics". It is equipped with various practical set-up made by faculty of EC department. Practical set-ups are characteristic kits for SCR-TRIAC-DIAC-MOSFET Transistor-BJT Transistor, Mode Identification kit for TRIAC, Latching and Holding current measurement kit, UJT triggering/ RC triggering scheme of SCR. The laboratory has a number of kits such as Self Commutation kit, Complementary Commutation kit, Heumann's chopper kit, Speed Control of DC Shunt Motor with load arrangement in open mode and closed mode, Line Commutated Inverter, Switched Mode Power Supply, Microprocessor based DC Motor Control. It is equipped with the latest measuring equipments like Digital Storage CRO, Power Factor Meter, IC Tester, True RMS meter, Transistor tester, Rheostats, Isolation Transformer, Tachometer, AC/DC Ameter- Voltmeter, Digital Multimeters, Inductor box, Resistor box, Capacitor box, Variac and various databooks for all kinds of power devices.
(viii) Biomedical Engineering Laboratory:
This laboratory is designed exclusively for the subject IBME (Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering) which is elective subject for the final year students. The laboratory is equipped with the sophisticated trainer boards for the measurement of bio-potentials such as ECG, EEG, EMG etc. It is also furnished with different types of transducers to determine physiological parameters of the body such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiration etc. The laboratory is stocked with instruments such as Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Function Generator, Power Supplies and computers. The 8-Channel Physio-screen for real time analysis with the latest software is the unique attraction of this laboratory.
(ix) Project Laboratory:
This laboratory is used by the 5 th and 8 th students for mini project and final year project. It is equipped with latest measuring equipments like Digital Storage CRO, Power Factor Meter, IC Tester, True RMS meter, Transistor tester, Tachometer, AC/DC Ameter- Voltmeter, Digital Multimeters, Inductance box, Resistance box, Capacitance box, Bread boards, Variac, Bench Grinder, Drill Machine, PCB Drill Machine, Cutter & all Screw driver set, bread board, Solder iron, Function generators, DC Power supplies. This laboratory also has project kits having facilities for the performance of analog and digital practicals on them. For PCB making , required items such as FeCl3, thinner, Bickers, Copper plates are also available. Different active and passive components are available with different ranges. It also contains Databooks for Digital and Analog electronics like CMOS, TTL IC, Semiconductor devices etc.
2. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
(i) Elements of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Laboratory:
This laboratory is facilitated with various basic experimental set-ups using analog and digital meters with various trainer kits for verification of basic electrical engineering laws and theorems.
(ii) Electrical Machine Laboratory:
The department has well equipped rich, spacious machine laboratory, which is facilitated by all kinds of electrical machines like AC/DC generators, AC/DC motors, synchronous machines, various transformers and well designed electrical panels for each machine.
(iii) Power System Laboratory:
This laboratory includes well designed panels on modern transmission line simulation models, various switchgears, relay testing panel & advance programmable microprocessor based relays. The major power system protection panels includes feeder protection, biased differential protection of transformers, induction motor protection.
(iv) High Voltage Laboratory:
This laboratory includes HVAC and HVDC test kit & 100KV Impulse generator with the measuring apparatus like Sphere Gap assembly, Resistance divider, Capacitance divider & Rod gap assembly. It also contains set-ups like, High voltage insulation tester, Oil test kit, Horn gap apparatus, Corona cage, electrolytic tank and Electro static precipitator test kit.
(v) Power Electronics Laboratory:
This laboratory is equipped with various power electronics components, modern digital storage oscilloscope, analog oscilloscope. Function generators and experimental kits/set-ups of UJT relaxation oscillator, 1-phase & 3-phase controlled rectifiers, Various SCR commutation methods trainer kits, Choppers, TRIAC firing circuits, Inverters and A.C./D.C. Drives etc.
(vi) Linear Electronics & Integrated Electronics Laboratory:
The laboratory is enriched with digital storage oscilloscope, analog oscilloscopes, operational amplifier design kits, function generator, regulated power supply and various electronic experimental kits.
(vii) Measurement & Network Laboratory:
This laboratory is equipped with various trainer kits for verification of network laws and theorems. It also includes various kits for AC/DC bridges, standard cell, Potentiometers, dual trace oscilloscopes, function generator and various other measuring devices.
(viii) Control and Instrumentation Laboratory:
This Laboratory is facilitated with various modern control systems trainer boards. It also includes various electrical and electronics instruments like PLC trainer, real time PID controller, power analyzer, various transducers and instrument trainers etc.
(ix) Computer, Microprocessor & Project Laboratory:
This laboratory is supplied with one advanced server, 24 numbers of Desktop computers with Windows XP as operating system & connected in network using domain controller. This laboratory is enriched with most of the license softwares, applications packages, 8085 and 8086 Microprocessor Kits, their peripheral interfacing cards, PC based assemblers, various PC based interfacing cards using RS - 232, RS - 485, PCI protocols and real time analog and digital signals, Digital CROs, Universal Programmer, Ultra Violate Eraser DLP projector. This laboratory also provides Internet facility to the students.
3. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
(i) Workshop :
There is a separate spacious building for mechanical engineering workshop. The workshop is quipped with various types of machine tools like All Geared Lathe, Capstan - Turret lathe, Universal Milling Machine, Universal Drilling Machine, Shapers, Bench, Grinders, Power Hacksaw Machine. Besides these, the workshop includes Foundry and Smithy shop, Carpentry Shop, Fitting Shop, Sheet Metal Works and Welding Shop. We also provide all relevant instruments / tools to the students for performing various jobs.
(ii) Thermal Engineering Laboratory :
A well-furnished thermal engineering laboratory is equipped with modern equipments and test rigs such as Diesel Engine Test rig, Two stroke and Four stroke Petrol Engine Test rig, Rotary and Reciprocating Air Compressor Test rig and Calorimeters. We also have the 'study - model' of Boilers, I.C. Engine, Boiler Mounting & Accessories, Turbine Pumps etc. and Study Charts.
(iii) Kinematics & Dynamics of Machines Laboratory :
The laboratory is equipped with models of Gear Trains, Kinematics Pairs, Link & Mechanism, Cam follower, Brakes & Clutches etc. We also have the modern machines such as Dynamic Balancing Machine, Balancing of Wheel Governors, Whirling of Shaft Test rig.
(iv) Graphics & Machine Design Laboratory :
The graphics laboratory is well furnished with sufficient numbers of drawing desks, sectionalized unsectionalized models of geometrical objects such as Cone, Cylinders, Pyramids, Spheres, etc along with the models of different types of Mechanical Joints, Couplings, Jigs - Fixtures, Pulleys. In this laboratory we also have multi colored descriptive wall charts & Instrument Box.
(v) Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Power Laboratory :
In this laboratory we have latest test - rigs of Kaplan Turbine, Pelton wheel, Rota meter, Venturimeter, Bernoulli's Apparatus, Pitot Tube, 'V' Notch & Friction Through Pipe. We also have Centrifugal Pump Test rig, Gear Pump Test rig & Impact of Jet Test rig.
(vi) Alternative Energy Sources Laboratory :
This lab is equipped with solar radiation measurement instruments like pyranometer, pyrheliometer, sunshine recorder and solar education kit. The lab is also having working model of solar cooker, solar still, solar drier, solar flat plat collector.
(vii) CAD -CAM Laboratory :
The aim of cad-cam laboratory is to produce not only the theoretical base but also the industrial base knowledge. We have well furnished cad-cam laboratory which is equipped with a large number of latest (HCL branded) computers, Internet facilities, Advanced Modeling softwares, Hi- Technology based Hi-tech CNC Lathe Trainer, Fuzzy logic based EDM machine.
(viii) Metrology & Instrumentation Laboratory
This laboratory is equipped with highly precise and accurate instruments that are used in industries for measuring and gauging of components. Some of these instruments include slip gauges, digital Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauge, height gauge, depth gauge, angle plates, surface plates, sinebar, telescopic gauge , etc.
(ix) Metallurgy & Material Technology Laboratory :
This laboratory is equipped with various equipments like Ultrasonic flaw detector, metallurgical microscope, microscopic specimen of various metals, video projection attachment with CCD camera, muffle furnace, polishing disc machine, Carbon -Sulphur apparatus, etc.
(x) Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Laboratory :
This laboratory is equipped with all the latest test rigs like vapour compression refrigeration test rig, vapour absorption refrigeration test rig, vortex tube refrigeration test rig, mechanical heat pump, ice plant rig, gas charging unit, air-conditioning test rig, cooling tower test rig, centrifugal fan test rig, etc.
(xi) Heat and Mass Transfer Technology:
This laboratory is equipped with various apparatus like emmissivity measurement apparatus, Stephen boltzman constant apparatus, thermal conductivity measurement of insulation powder, parallel & counter flow heat transfer apparatus, heat transfer in natural convection apparatus, heat transfer from pin fin apparatus etc.
4. COMPUTER ENG. / INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
(i) Computer Software Laboratory:
These laboratories are equipped with 90 personal computers (HCL P-IV, IBM P-IV, HCL Celeron), Dot matrix Printers and Multimedia kits. Practicals based on subjects like Programming Languages, Object Oriented Programming, Data and information Security are carried out in these laboratories.
(ii) Computer Design Laboratory:
These laboratories are furnished with 46 (IBM P-IV, HCL Celeron) Computer Systems, Printers and Multimedia Kits. Practicals based on Subjects like Data Structure, Software Packages, Database Management System, Visualization & Presentation, Software Engineering are carried out in these laboratories.
(iii) Computer Network and Project Laboratory:
This laboratory is equipped with 24 (HCL Celeron) Computer Systems, Networking Hardware & Software. Practicals based on subject Computer Network, Network Technology, Computer Peripherals and IT Peripherals are carried in this laboratory.
(iv) Operating System Laboratory:
This laboratory is equipped with 24 (HCL P-IV) Computer Systems, and all supporting Hardware. Practicals based on subjects Operating System, Distributed Operating System, Parallel Processing etc. are carried out in this laboratory.
(v) Internet Laboratory:
This laboratory is equipped with 22 (HCL Pentium IV) and 1 HCL Net-Manager Server Computer Systems, Printer and Necessary Radio-Link and Leased Line Equipment Like CISCO Router, One RAID Modema and Bandwidth Management Tool. Project work based on subjects like Internet Technology, Internet Engineering is carried out in this laboratory. Internet facility is available with 384 kbps radio-link connectivity and 64kbps leased-line capacity accessible by 50 computers.
(vi) Server Room:
It is equipped with 2 IBM X series X226 Server & 1 HCL Net Manager Server.
All software required for various engineering applications on all platforms are available. It is assured that each student occupies separate PC for sufficient practice in the laboratory.
5. CIVIL ENGINEERING SECTION
(i) Strength of Materials Laboratory:
This laboratory helps in understanding & testing various property of material like Hardness, Tensile Strength, and Compressive Strength etc. Strength of Material Laboratory is equipped with modern equipments like Rockwell & Brinell Hardness Testing Machine, A fully computerized Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Compression testing machine, Izod & Charpy testing machine, Torsion testing machine & Fatigue testing machine etc.
(ii) Engineering Mechanic Laboratory :
This laboratory is equipped with Universal force table, simply supported Beam apparatus, Friction table, Differential wheel & Axle, Single purchase crab winch & Flywheel.
(iii) Surveying Laboratory
Surveying laboratory is well furnished with sufficient numbers of instruments like Metric chain (20 mt & 30 mt ), Prismatic & Surveying compass, pegs , arrows , ranging rod(2 mt &3 mt), Theodolite, Automatic Level with leveling staff, plumb bob & Taper. We also have instruments like Planimeter, line Ranger, Optical Square with prism, plane Table for Plane Table Surveying , Hammer.
